This was a wonderful book. I definitely could not read this with my 6th graders but it would be fitting for high school (11-12th grade). From discussions on this book, it seems as though readers either connect with Holden or they can't get past his vulgarity so they don't finish the book. For me, I totally connect with Holden. I got into this book right away because of the writing. It's a quick and easy read, but it focuses more on the main character's views rather than telling a story.
I loved this book because I identified with Holden and his reflections resonated with me. I like his character because he has a good heart even though he does things that make no sense at times and he kind of sabotages his own future.
