What Members Thought

I re-read this for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge #24: An assigned book you hated (or never finished)
I still hate it. All of the characters are deeply irritating and the notion that young boys would descend to barbarism if left to their own devices is neither profound nor particularly interesting if one has spent any time with young boys. The author’s writing style also leaves much to be desired. I have a hard time understanding why this is considered to be a classic, but, to each his own.
