A masterpiece by Oscar Wilde. I must agree with Bettie, how many times we will read this thrilling book?

A young man, strikingly beautiful and remarkably pure from corrupt influences, sits for a portrait and when that portrait is finished makes a prayer that instead of his changing, the portrait will.

What follows is more than just a Faustian story. Perhaps Dorian comes to realize that man must bear the evidence of his mistakes though life or perhaps not. What we do see is a man who struggles to find something that gives his life meaning when the typical things are stripped away.

I certainly enjoyed this book. It was a fast moving, can't wait to see what happens next kind of book. a quick read to be sure. The chapter of the long lists of the things Dorian collected was a bit long but other than that a good read. Dorian was a young handsome fellow who gets caught up with his looks and things that gave him pleasure. To explain it all would give away too much of the story.
