I just reread this book, and as is usually the case, i enjoyed it way more as an adult. I understood the subtle and wonderful humor, and the things that are said between the lines. It's a simple, small-scale story, but that makes it so understandable and true. Its message is at the same time universal and timeless. The characters are downright lovable. It almost makes me want to live in a small town in a time before the internet when your social network was your actual living, breathing neighbor ...more

SUPERB!!! I enjoyed reading this so much. Seen the movie many times but never read the book. The book is a wonderful read. I had a hard time putting it down. A MUST READ!!!
