This is the second book in the Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs.
My local book club selected the first book for its November discussion, and although the story was hauntingly odd and overwhelmingly creepy, I was hooked. I just had to borrow the next book from my local library as soon as I finished the first.

Miss Peregrine has been captured. Jacob and all the peculiars are trying to rescue her. When they do, she cannot change back from a bird. So they go in search of someone who can save her. And of course all kinds of adventures ensue. I love his characters and his imagination.. It's as if he thought of all the superpowers every kid would dream of and then made someone like that.
