I’ve read all of Ruth Ware’s books and this is one of the best in my opinion. It definitely has some bits that reminded me of Rebecca and Jane Eyre. Very definitely has some gothic vibes. Ware’s books don’t always grab you from the beginning - I think they’re more of a slow burn But a fun ride trying to figure everything out. 4/5⭐️

This was a good thriller and did have some unexpected twists and buildup of tension, but for me it was not amazing. It lacked the action and feeling like I am on the edge of my seat that I have come to expect and hope for from mysteries and thrillers. I did like that in the end, the characters were not as they appeared, but the story could have used more plot twists and a little less complaining from the privileged characters would have been nice. No rating - 1st time tried audiobook and found the narrator for some parts annoying. 2nd time tried reading physical copy from library and just did not care about the characters or the story. Looked up spoilers online and DNF’d at page 100
