DNF~ 100 pages. Not for me, YMMV. Too much swearing, and obviously given the nature of the book there were bound to be discussions of rape and some other serious issues, but it was too dark for me. Also, there was only one character I really liked in the bunch. So while I'd be interested in what happened to Margot in the end, the younger girls not so much. ...more

I had such high hopes for this book. Unfortunately, I felt myself losing interest with every page. Great idea, I was just so disappointed with the execution. :(

I really don't know where I sit with this book. THERE WAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL to be an incredible book! It just felt like Alderman was trying to do too much and tackle too many issues at once that it just felt disjointed, and lacking any overall direction.

Out of all the different perspectives we follow, I think I was mostly invested in Allie's character. I enjoyed seeing how she dealt with her trauma from abuse and became 'Mother Eve'. I thought she was really strong and complex at times, but then ...more
