Put simply, this book is just brilliant writing and sharp editing.

I had my doubts at first, but I ended up really liking this book! And I had no idea how it was going to end--alive Mark or dead Mark. I've been lying awake at night, trying to figure out how to get myself off Mars. A part of me wishes I would've studied math or science or engineering instead of theatre. The whole last chapter, I don't think I took a single breath I was so nervous. But everything worked out just fine! Whew!! I feel pretty happy now.

What a fascinating book! Lots of science and thought provoking situations. Plus a likeable protagonist and plenty of tension. I listened to this in my car and couldn't wait to hear more each day. Great narrator too. And it's going to be a movie starring Matt Damon. I'd give it 4.75 stars.

OK, fine, maybe it's not the best written book out there. But man, the amount of geeky science stuff in there was just so awesome, I really enjoyed it. It certainly read like a movie, so no surprise I am looking forward to catching it in theaters in a few months.

I’m surprised how much I liked this. So much sciency- stuff. But I couldn’t put it down! Love an underdog story.
