Two exogenous factors affected my experience of this story: My library didn’t have it on audio, and I kept missing Kobna Holdbrook-Smith’s narration. And I read it almost entirely between sets at a music festival. Focusing environment it was not. So is this plot harder to follow, or was I just distracted? Hard to say.
