This is the first book in the Darkest Powers serie, a fantastic serie that i coudnt stop reading and got sad when it finished.
Chloe Saunders is a movie-intrested 15 year old girl who started to see ghost in school and got taken away and locked in psycho house Lyle House.
In Lyle House she meets Liz, Rae, Simon, Derek and Simon. All of them have something special that made them being in Lyle House for a time.
After much research and help from Derek Chloe finds out she is a necromancer.

This was one of my favorite books! I'm not gonna sum it up, that would take too long and other people already have! Instead, I'll voice my great opinion!
*SPOILERS AHEAD!*
First of all, WHAT THE HECK WAS WITH THE ENDING! The day before I read Hex Hall and that ending had a *horrible* betrayal! Then this?! I was like, OK, Aunt Lauren is a total...nevermind. So, how could Liz not know she was dead? And what were they gonna do with Chloe and the rest? I HATEHATEHATE medical/scientific settings, so gr ...more

The Darkest Powers is one of my favorite series. It is one that I've read a few times and compare all other books that I read.
Here's why:
1) I love Kelley's writing style. It is different from many of the books I read. No overwhelming descriptions or annoyingly exessive amounts of punctuation marks.
2) The story, although a little slow, keeps me interested the whole time. Even though I already know exactly what's going to happen now, it was still much more interesting than the books I borrowed fro ...more

i picked this up at this library and I'm glad I did. Kelly Anderson is a very good author and i look forward to reading book#2
