Still trash for Maas! And still team Rowan..! I’m really enjoying my reread of the series despite being afraid I wouldn’t like it anymore. There are some cringey moments, but there are also some super swoon-worthy moments, too. I don’t know how I forgot about Abraxos, and Manon, but once their scenes popped up, I got super excited all over again. Hoping to get to the next book soon!

Loooovvvveeeedddd this book. A little too long, but damn it was good! We get a better insight of that horrible night that Caleana' parents were killed.
More insight of Maeve her evil aunt.
I also enjoyed the storyline of the witches. It was interesting to read about the witches and their life. They are some cold hearted witches! Can't wait to read more about them.
The storyline between Rowan and Caleana, awesome!
Chaol, Dorian, and Aedion storylines are somewhat a little boring in the beginning, ...more

There is a lot I liked about this book... and a lot I didn't. The core story of Calaena is very interesting - her secrets, her past, her relationship with Rowan (yay, a male/female friendship that feels authentic!). I loved the fantasy elements of the world, from the Fae to the Little Folk to the demi-fae (though demi-fae confused me a little). I also loved the settings, especially Queen Maeve's domain.
But this book does a lot. Maybe too much, in my opinion. It tells a lot of stories, weaves a ...more

I think I’ll let this series lie. It is much more “young adult” than “fantasy,” which is fine, but not for me. There was a lot of writing hugely which is the best way I can come up with explaining it. I didn’t write down any quotes because I was listening to the audiobook, but Goodreads has some quotes that are good examples:
“And then I am going to rattle the stars”
“Rowan looked into her eyes, into the very core of her.”
“All she knew was that whatever and whoever climbed out of that abyss of des ...more

I like the world building and where the overall plot is going. With that, I am trying to stay focused on the overall story plot arc and not get distracted by Calaena's impulsiveness, lack of character growth and a different love interest in every book. Despite the slow pacing of Heir of Fire, I am going to read Queen of Shadows in hopes the story will get back to some ass kicking and defeating the main villain and not Calaena being sap and swooning for each new man.

I'm not sure I'll ever love these books as much as everyone else seems too. I know the endings tend to lead me to want to see what happens next even though I don't tend to rate the books very high.
I was kind of bored with this book and felt it could have been cut down a bit. The ending made up for some of the boredom but not enough for me to rate it higher than 3 stars. ...more

This went from 0-60 quick. This was a little sloppy. The cast if characters gets too large too fast, and then following so many different POV's. I'm still interested to see what happens in the future, but this felt sloppy.
