The book is extremely well written as he has said that interviews that he finished the book back in 2011, but had to rewrite the book due to the end of his marriage, which is the reason that it took so long to come out.

The problem had with the book is that even though this is a good book, for the overall plot of the series, nothing gets tied up and resolved as this book is only a episode of a larger story. But I guess that is a problem with all epic fantasy where each book builds upon the last.

I received a free ebook ARC copy of this book from NetGalley. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Two parallel stories are entwined throughout the book, and I think the story of the past is more interesting. I also think that I like Sabetha better when she's only a shadow, merely someone in Locke's memory. Her presence is annoying and makes Locke a sad, sad character. However, I still enjoy the book, a worthy-to-read book indeed. (although I would like to say that I do not like what happened to Patience and the Falconer at the end.) ...more

I will write a longer review later but having finished the book tonight I can only say, "I love the Gentlemen Bastards." This book and this series are great. I know it's going to be a wait for the next one but I thrilled this one wrapped up the main story :) ...more
