Ah, Eleanor- she’s such a great character who comes through a great tragedy that she can hardly remember to become a socially maladjusted adult who is struggling to make her way in a world that she doesn’t comprehend. Being forced into the world through a series of moments with her friend from work, Raymond, causes her to confront her demons,and come to terms with who she has become- a strong, bright capable woman who might have a few flaws, but is more than able to make her own way.

At first Eleanor is so awkward and weird that I wasn't sure I wanted to spend an entire book with her. But as the book went along she grew on me and I found myself really rooting for things to go her way. And though Eleanor's awkwardness swings wildly from funny to cringe-y, I thought this was a good study in loneliness and friendship. Worth a read.

Eleanor may be fine, but I’m not.
This book is a hard, emotional punch right in the gut.
I happy cried, I sad cried.. there was a lot of crying. And since I finished this about an hour ago, I’ve spontaneously teared up as parts of the book pop into my head. (At the time of writing this, I’m about to get ready to go to the bar with friends... I bet I get emotional about two rums in.)
Eleanor herself is completely charming between her innocence and her very Sheldon-esque comments. I giggled at her ...more

I've finished this book a few weeks ago and still don't know how to rate it.
I've listened to the audiobook and I wish I had read the book the normal way instead. I just didn't like the narration, it took me out of the story all the time because of the narrator's accent. I also think the book cover and the title doesn't match the theme of the book at all, to me it looks & sounds so much like chick lit or a cheap romance novel, kinda ruined the reading experience.
