What Members Thought

This wasn't what I expected at all. Everyone had hyped up this book SO much. Don't you hate when people do that? They make it seem like a book is equivalent to the Second Coming and you're so excited that you already put the book on a pedestal before you even read it. In the end, you are so disappointed because it didn't reach that standard you had placed for it.
That was "Miss Peregrine's" for me. I wanted MIND EXPLOSION. Instead, i got a little piece of paper with ka-plow written on it.

I liked the originality of the story and writing style of the author - both of which kept me going through a story that often lost its grip on me. I didn't realize until the end that the story was built around the fascinating and eerie photographs - I had thought the photos were created for the story. It was fun...nothing earth shattering, but a fun read. Now to see the movie with the fam! Then, of course, I'll have to read the sequel!

I started this book a few different times and only just forced myself to finish on the 3rd read. The first bit of the book captivates me every time but by the time Jacob fully explores the island it is a real slog for me. I'm a little interested in where it ends and am curious but reluctant to start the next book.

Very unusual tale of children with strange talents. It's a story that has a lot of imagination and you have to use your imagination to find it believable. The beginning was a bit slow but still once things started moving along it hooked me. For the most part I liked it, an interesting way to look at people and how our world could be. I'm curious to read the second one, not so much that I'm dying to know what happens just curious to continue the story.
