So sweet! All the homophobic a-holes miss a wonderful love story :-)
I love the children. All of them are amazing, wonderful kids, and I'm filled with love to my adoptive children. I can't wait for sequel, of all the adventures of this unusual family, and how they rescue all the children of the world :-)
I love it that not everyone is nice. Not everyone learns anything. Because there are people like that in the world, and the world is still a nice place, and the people who love us are what matters ...more

I really hate not finishing a book, but I could not stand the condescension of the characters towards the main character/audience surrogate. Characters literally stopped to lecture the main character on the value of difference every few pages. I can see the value of that in a middle grade book (which, to be honest, is the audience this book seemed targeted to in spite of all its adult readers), but I don’t think the people who are going to pick up this book in the first place need ...more

I loved this so much! It's not only a new favorite, but very high up on my favorites list. It actually started off a little rough for me, but it got good pretty fast, and there was just so much to love about it. I loved all the characters, the writing, the setting. It was just SO GOOD!

This book was cute, but way too twee and predictable for me. The platitudes were constant, and it read like a Disney movie—a buttoned-up corporate drone with no life gets sent on assignment to an island of magical misfits...I think you can figure out the ending.
This was too overhyped for me—but props to the author for his creativity and use of music and devilish humor.

This is a very cute and easy read that will leaving you feeling good. All the problems are a little too easily solved and I didn't really feel any chemistry between the main character and his love interest, but otherwise this was very sweet and enjoyable.

I found the writing in this book to be forced and cheesy (like a sitcom). The "scariest" character in the book is based on a religion that I'm not a part of, so that character had no impact on me and didn't feel remotely believable. I was initially interested in the description of the work environment, but it became repetitive.
