This was a very difficult book for me to start. In fact, I checked it out from the library and started it twice. I just couldn't get into it-seemed boring and some the translation was a little weird. Then I read another member's review and he had the same issues I had, until he read until about page 45. Didn't like the graphic violence, but thought the book was well-written, with compelling characters.

I did ultimately enjoy this book, but I'm not sure I totally get the hype. It was a good murder mystery book, but it takes about 200 to 250 pages to really get moving, and I didn't think it was any better, or any worse than any other murder mystery I've ever read. I'm still on the fence about whether I will read the other two or not. But, not a total waste of time.

3.5 - 4 stars. Would've given it a 4 but the violence was too graphic and brutal for me and a little too much going on.

A good thriller, solidly written. I found Blomkvist annoying but will read the follow up for more Salander.
