Mostly mystery, a very tiny bit romance, a good amount of dark and twisted. The book started off a little slow to me, I felt as though the story was being explained to me like a list, rather than "told" to me. However, after a few chapters it gets much better. I became really engaged, and invested in Blomkvist being able to finally solve the mystery of Harriet's disappearance. I was also very intrigued by Lisbeth Salander. Finally, three years later I finish this book. I finished via audiobook. I had it originally from library, then on kindle but couldn't finish. No idea why it didn't grab me. I know it is loved.

So despite all the coverage, I had no idea what it was about. Didn't know it was a mystery. Some very clever clues and some great sleuthing. Some tedious. Great exposure to a different country and culture. I did see it playing out in the movies.

This was a very difficult book for me to start. In fact, I checked it out from the library and started it twice. I just couldn't get into it-seemed boring and some the translation was a little weird. Then I read another member's review and he had the same issues I had, until he read until about page 45. So I went out and bought my own copy so I could read at my own speed, and low and behold, that reviewer was right! Rasanya sudah lama sekali ga baca thriller yang keren dan menawarkan kebaruan. Akhirnya terpuaskan dengan buku ini.
Awal buku terasa agak berat karena membahas soal ekonomi politik yang agak asing. Namun, setelahnya benar2 ga terduga!
Seru banget, ga ketebak, tokohnya unik2, dan karena pengarangnya org eropa, terasa sekali bedanya.
Meski demikian agak kaget juga Qanita berani menerbitkan tipe buku "dewasa" seperti ini. Sangat di luar kebiasaan. Namun memang rasanya ga sia-sia deh. :-)
