I read this book because it was on several middle school reading lists and I wanted to review it before my son read it. I wasn't overwhelmed by the story itself, but I found Ponyboy to be loveable and liked the way it read. I probably would have only given it 3 stars but once I learned that the author wrote it at age 16 I found it to be much more impressive and deserving of another star. ...more

This is a great book! I loved how he used a gang, and still made it an emotionally and philisophically deep story.
