Inspired by a real-life case of wrongful imprisonment, author Alexandre Dumas (1802-70) wrote a novel of suffering and revenge for the ages, featuring the transformation of a man imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, into the near-divine title character. Long, but one of the best books you'll ever read in your life. ...more

Debating between a 3 and a 4. The basic plot itself is amazing, and Dumas weaves the story brilliantly. BUT IT'S SO LOOOOONG. I could've arrived at the same conclusion by cutting the novel by 1/3, if not 1/2. ...more
