Just as good as it was when I was 13 years old, though perhaps for different reasons. Terrifically comforting in an otherwise horrible month.

A children's classic. I've read this, seen the movies, seen the TV show, and seen it as a play. Still delightful.

Description: Eleven-year-old orphan Anne Shirley has just arrived at Green Gables, and already her guardians want to send her back. First, she’s not the boy the Cuthberts expected. Second, she talks too much. And even with her generous spirit, the redhead’s a trouble magnet. She gets the neighbor drunk and nearly poisons the pastor! Very much worthy of a reread. I am sad that I never read this book when I was a child, but I also don’t think I would have appreciated it as much as I do now. The whole time I fell in love with Anne and thought how much fun it would be to have her as one of my students.

I decided to re-read old favorites, and Anne of Green Gables definitely continues to be a favorite. Reading this book is like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cold day.

Original Review:
This story is absolutely charming! It's the type of book that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. I feel at home as I'm reading, and feel like I know the characters. The movie that was made based on this book is excellent as well. I don't know which I like better, actually.

I loved this! I grew up watching the old movie staring Megan Follows. I loved the movie, but as usual, the book is far better. It is hard to cast an actress who needs to fit the part of an 11 year old who becomes a 16 year old over the course of the story. Much of the dialogue was verbatim from the book, but it felt so much more real in the book because the character was actually eleven instead of and older teen trying to portray an ll year old. Worth the read!
