What Members Thought

Just as good as it was when I was 13 years old, though perhaps for different reasons. Terrifically comforting in an otherwise horrible month.

A children's classic. I've read this, seen the movies, seen the TV show, and seen it as a play. Still delightful.

I decided to re-read old favorites, and Anne of Green Gables definitely continues to be a favorite. Reading this book is like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cold day.
Original Review:
This story is absolutely charming! It's the type of book that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. I feel at home as I'm reading, and feel like I know the characters. The movie that was made based on this book is excellent as well. I don't know which I like better, actually. ...more

I loved this! I grew up watching the old movie staring Megan Follows. I loved the movie, but as usual, the book is far better. It is hard to cast an actress who needs to fit the part of an 11 year old who becomes a 16 year old over the course of the story. Much of the dialogue was verbatim from the book, but it felt so much more real in the book because the character was actually eleven instead of and older teen trying to portray an ll year old. Worth the read!
