I originally tried to read this book as a little girl. Unfortunately, even as a kid, I never had much use for over-done, flowery, descriptive writing. It's a great book. It's well written and I love Anne and Marilla and Matthew and Diana but good grief it's taking me forever to get through it. I can't stand to read but a few pages at a time before I have to put it down and do something else. Just as good as it was when I was 13 years old, though perhaps for different reasons. Terrifically comforting in an otherwise horrible month.

A children's classic. I've read this, seen the movies, seen the TV show, and seen it as a play. Still delightful.
