Definitely disappointed with this novel. First of all, I thought that the narrator was 7 years old. Imagine my surprise when I found out that he was 15! Then I started to wonder if he had some sort of cognitive delays or if he was on the autistic spectrum. I can understand a shy, awkward teenager, but Charlie seemed to lack even the most basic of social skills. This was formerly a 3 star read and it turned into a 5 star. I think it was that I had to experience enough and grow up enough to understand the experience of reading this.
Charlie is a freshmen in high school and he spends his first year off with a rocky start. His closest friend unalived himself. He slowly gets more friends and tries to participate in school events and hangs out outside of school. So much happens.
