There are problems with this book stemming mostly from the fact that it is quite old, and this is keeping me from giving it a perfect score. Still, I'm giving it four stars for keeping me incredibly engaged throughout, perfectly setting an atmosphere, mood, and scene with language, and depicting a type of spousal relationship which is rarely described so thoroughly. The inner life of the protagonist also kept me reading.

I stayed away from this one for a long time and I'm glad I gave it a chance ...more

All i can say is that I feel it’s a ripoff of classic books like Jane Eyre and Wuthering heights. I’m very disappointed because I really wanted to love this book. I’ve been told how great it was.
