What Members Thought

I read "March" by Geraldine Brooks last year and decided to revisit "Little Women". I have my Mom's hardback edition that was gifted to her from a favorite Aunt and Uncle in the 1930's. She read it so many times and I also read it many times so it's falling apart! This time I read it on Kindle and it brought back so many memories of reading Louisa May Alcott's books when I was a child in the late 50's.

I thought this was a decent book and in it's day I think it was probably excellent. I found it very slow reading, as a lot of the wording and phrases were not familiar and it took extra attention to figure out what was trying to be conveyed.
I actually loved the little lessons that were taught throughout the book. I thought they were clever ways to teach concepts in ways children could understand and will probably read these chapters to my future children. :)

I guess I just don't get the appeal. Found it boring and just couldn't bring myself to care much for any of the characters. It was well written though, and I can see how younger girls might like it. This is odd considering I usually have the book tastes of a 13 year old girl...
