What Members Thought

A brilliantly written tragic tale. I'm sure there are some deep profound themes & meanings that I missed, but I enjoyed it anyway. Listening to this was almost like listening to music as the language was so masterfully weaved. But I must admit I found some of the soliloquies a bit long winded. I chuckled as I pictured the hideous, green, 8 foot tall abomination prattling on and on while the listener is tapping his foot, checking his pocket watch, etc.

Much of what I pick up to read, I enjoy (With the exception of Villet). This book was no different. The sentiments of the Romantics and later the Victorians always strike a chord with me. Their struggles to find a Utopian Paradise in Nature but seeing the world progress in intelligence yet digress in humanity. Writing was a way to explore child labor, poverty, environmental issues, civil rights, etc. Frankenstein, in a way, explored nature vs. nurture. But more literally explored the advances of
