Yet another page-turner by Mr. Riggs!
When I read his first book, I was not blown away, but I thoroughly enjoyed discovering the peculiar world he created. The characters were interesting, and Jacob's romance with Emma was adorable.
Seeing the story further unfold in this sequel was everything I expected. Again, it was nothing revolutionary, but reading about the peculiar children traveling to meet other embrynes and even explore London was exciting.

I barely remember the first book, since I feel it's been a few years since I read it. However, I feel like I liked this one better. The pacing was good, the characters a tad one-dimensional, but the integration of the photos is wonderful and some of the prose is beautiful. Also, I'm eager to see what comes next.
