What Members Thought

This book really overwhelmed me. A grand cosmology which gives substance to the epic world of Middle-Earth. A wonderful, pedantic depiction of Tolkien’s thoughts on Arda and its chronicles.
Also, the first book I ever read! I had just finished the movies and couldn’t help but need more! The result.. mind blowing!! I’ll always treasure this book, cause it taught me fantasy, helped me dreaming, changed my world.
Tolkien always wanted to create mythology and with this one, I think he made it!

The grand scope of all that Tolkien imagined is combined in this work by his son. The depth he gave to his brain child, the world building...I'm always speechless when I finish it.
The stories about the First Age are my favorite. Why hasn't this been worked into a tv series yet? The family drama, the backstabbing, the love stories....brilliant!
A great book to cleanse my brain after a Harry Potter binge. ...more

This was definitely worth the read. After finishing The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings, it explains things that were briefly mentioned but not fully told about. The history of the beginning of Middle-Earth is amazing. It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple like Beren and Lúthien, or the first children of Illuvater (Ea), Morgoth’s wrath, and so much more. But I don’t think it is as good as Lord Of The Rings, but it is better then The Hobbit. Overall a 94% out of 100% A-
