I really liked this book. It's been my first Neil Gaiman in quite a few years and it's surprising how noticeable his personal touch is on his books that you immediately recognize them. There's just a way to his writing that, personally, I find quite engaging and particular, even though his prose isn't particularly flowery. Wow. I love this book. I love Bod. I love Silas. I loved the world and the implications of what it means to grow up. I love what it says about family, and about adolescence, and about what you lose when it is time to say goodbye to childhood. I love what it says about bravery, and facing your past, and moving on. For a book that starts out so darkly (three murders!) it was surprisingly enjoyable. The vignette-style chapters made for an easy read but not too disjointed that you forget the overall plot. Nobody Owens may have been raised in a graveyard but he could easily be any child anywhere.
