This was a nice book to read outloud. Terabithia is every kid's Narnia. We knew we couldn't create Narnia the way it really was, but we would swing into Teribithia and make it as real as we could and give it our best shot... it didn't matter if we didn't know what to say as King, we just went and tried.

I read this around fifth grade. Largely what I remembered of the book was the scene where the boy has found out that his friend has died and his uncle hugs him and can feel a button pressing into his cheek. When the movie came out, all I could think was, "Wow. I don't remember this book at all." But then I heard the trailer was pretty much false advertising for the movie, so I guess my remembrance of it being about grief was correct.

One of my all time favorite children's books. I have a very vivid memory of sitting in a circle in fifth grade as my teacher read The Chapter out loud, and everyone in the class was crying. Everyone. It really is that affecting and powerful. A beautiful take on a difficult subject.
