I just finished reading this with my daughters the other day. We'll begin our review in a moment. But may I say, DANG! These books hold up. I loved them as a kid, but I'm pulling so much more out of them now as an adult - specifically, as a teacher and a parent.
My favorite stories were "Freedom" and the19 chapters. In "Freedom," Myron realizes what many of us have at various points: that school is essentially a prison. He comes to the realization that it doesn't have to be.

I never read this as a kid. It is a FANTASTIC read aloud. My kindergartener, 2nd and 3rd grader have been asking for more every night. I sometimes I have to stop to explain the pun or the humor-but mostly they get it and are in stitches on their own. My kindergartener has the best sense of humor and I just love listening to her chuckling to herself while I read.

This book is fantastic. Read it, whether you're a kid, or a grown-up.

The stories in the first Wayside School book was zany, but this installment of the series is just plain weird. Beware the story of the nonconsensual kisses after ingesting mushroom surprise from the school lunchroom and the one where the teacher tapes a kid's mouth shut.
