I was disappointed by this book. From the description, it sounded more like dark fantasy, but in practice, it's more like a romance novel of the cheesiest variety, only replace the generic pirate/naughty lord/auto mechanic human hunk with a vampire hunk. The dialogue was overwrought, and the behavior of the man/men in question was extremely stereotypical when it wasn't extremely implausible (even given that we are theoretically talking about men of a different and non-existent-in-reality species

So, I finished this a few days ago and have been putting off the review. I guess it's because I didn't really love this book. It was entertaining, and pretty funny, but mostly because I was laughing at the author's weird interjections of random slang and rap stars. I mean, FUBAR, really!? She stuck that in the book!? It's a little random and weird.

I almost put this book down a hundred times, but persevered because it has such a high rating. But...no. Just no. The spelling of the brothers' names drove me insane. No character depth. Nothing that made the two main characters zing with attraction. Not a fan.

It is ridiculous how much I enjoyed this.

the first in a new "paranormal romance" series (cuz apparently, i like my porn to involve fangs or werewolves) that's so far surprisingly good. my coworker who's been keeping me stocked in the supernatural crack that's been fueling a month-long book-bender has found a real winner in this new author. you can tell from the first book that there's some carefully considered world-building going on, and the plot is far more than mere filler between bedroom scenes.

I saw this recommended somewhere, so I put it on hold, and I missed picking it up on time, then I put it on hold again, and I missed it AGAIN, so this time when it came in I made sure to get it, and read it ... and so far it's been incredibly disappointing. There is a certain genre of paranormal "romance" that reads like young adult drama with adult sex - and this is one of those types of books. Not really what I'm looking for. I might keep reading it, I might not.

For me, stars on Goodreads just mean how much I enjoyed a book. I don't usually read this genre and maybe it's for the best. A lot of friends like this series so I gave it a go.

If you can get past the terrible names and the "gangsta" behavior and language, this is actually a solidly good vampire series.
