You only scream when you're finally safe.

this book is kind of like if the lifetime channel exploded, causing lifetime confetti to go everywhere.

but i don't think that's a bad thing.

a lot of people have had really strong negative reactions to this book, but since this seems to be the year that i like the books everyone hates and hate the books everyone likes, here i am with at least one thumb up.

this book is far from perfect, and it's got a lot of things in it that people who read less clinically

Ani FaNelli has overcome a lot in her life. All she wants is for people to believe she's effortlessly thin, wealthy, and doesn't come from New Jersey - and once she gets married, she'll have a new last name, and lose the last remnant of who she used to be: TifAni FaNelli, the trashy, chubby girl who was raped and that was before the incident that would mark her and her private school forever. Nadine in NY Jones

It's a certain kind of hell, confessing your most humiliating sexual secrets to a room full of hairy middle-aged men.

I just couldn't get into this.

I get that it's a parody, and maybe if I lived in Manhattan and worked in publishing and cared about superficial appearances, I would find it interesting. But I don't, and I don't and I don't, so I don't.

This reads like a combination Lifetime after-school special + a New Adult Mean Girls with a side of suggested (but never shown!) kink + a few mor

Good and sort of intentionally annoying all at the same time.

I'd probably give this 3.5 stars if possible (but it's not a 3, so 4 it is). I enjoyed it, but seeing it compared to Gillian Flynn novels was kind of its downfall for me. It's more like chick-lit with a bit of a dark side. And I was waiting for an even bigger twist/mind-fuck (that was hinted at) at the end that never materialized.

My two cents: Worth the read, but not as good as I thought it would be. Not as suspenseful as I thought it would be. More chick-lit than I thought it would be.

I thought the author's writing style was very odd. It was almost like she had too many jokes or asides but I didn't get them and I kept looking back to see what I missed. I enjoyed the story but mostly because it was hard to put down. ...more
