All other worlds, including our own, are just Shadows of the true world.
I'm not sure I want to live in a shadow world!

Book 1 in my 2012 CAMPAIGN TO READ AS MANY ZELAZNY BOOKS AS I CAN GET MY HANDS ON.

I first read this book as a teen, back in the 70s or 80s (can't remember exactly). I am happy to say that it stands up admirably as a re-read. Do you miss that 70's [B-]action movie feeling & want to relive that in a short fantasy book?
The diction, the dress, the action set pieces, character tropes, etc. all just felt really '70s to me. The fantasy universe is pretty interesting, but I'd really like a character or two that I actually care about. ...more

I bet I read this one, but I'm sure I don't recall much about it. Must try again.

Book club book was strange. I don't know what I was expecting, given this was such a revered series, but this wasn't it.
Michael's review basically sums up my entire reaction to the book.
Maybe I'll read on in the series someday but I won't be in a rush to do so. ...more
