All the stars for this one! I bought the book the day it came out, but I ended up listening to it on audio, which I highly recommend. Michelle reads it (she’s my imaginary BFF, so I can call her Michelle), and it’s like having your best friend tell you her life story.

It's a great book and there were times when I kind of forgot that I was reading a memoir. I enjoyed it thoroughly up until after Barack Obama became president - and consequently, Michelle Obama became First Lady. I don't know why, but the part about their 8 years in the White House felt like I was watching a campaign rally or a speech in a Democratic National Convention. I listened to this on audiobook, so it felt like Michelle was just hanging out in my passenger seat, telling me stories. What was actually the least interesting to me was the campaigning....which basically took over her life. It's a delicate balance, to be able to describe

Oh, I loved this. MO is candid, charming, thoughtful, and tough. She details her growing-up years, her young self and personality, her work ethic, her lucky breaks. She explores the minefield of setting her own meaningful path while partnering with someone with such strong ideals and ideas. How she resisted BO’s involvement in politics for all the reasons you’d imagine. How she came to understand he was needed within the political system. The Obamas are always thinking of how regular Joes are af

THIS BOOK. Ever since I started reading it I can't stop telling stories about Michelle's life, sharing her wisdom, and gushing about her all-around amazingness. It's inspiring on so many levels, but I particularly loved her description of how she left her high-power law career for something more meaningful. And it was amazing to hear how she kept Barack in line all those years.
