Okay. Okay. This took me forever to read. Like almost two months. it is an imposing mass of a book. And, for me, it was difficult to read physically. The book was heavy and hard to manage. Is that weird? I don't know. It's just a big heavy book.
The art is beyond amazing. Intricate drawings made with ballpoint pen. Elaborate cross-hatching. Hyper-realism combined with monsters. Artistically, it's wonderful. I could look at some of these drawings for days. And did.

WHATTTTTTTTT
This book is insane! Between the amazing illustrations to the gripping story, Emil Ferris is fantastic! I loved how she pulled in the real issues people were dealing with back then! My favorite part is that this is all told from the POV of little Monster loving Karen! I am not looking forward to the long wait time in between this read and the second book coming out.... HOWEVER! I cannot wait to find out what happens!

What can I say besides phenomenal? The artwork is so, so detailed; classic with a modern twist. The expressions and language are perfect. That leaves the story...but it's actually many stories and each one alone would be enough, but instead we are treated to a feast of characters and their narratives. Can't wait for more!
