Priyanka, the teen daughter of an Indian immigrant mother, wants to know more about her Indian heritage but her mother won't speak about it. Then one day she finds her mom's magical pashmina that takes Priyanka to India when she puts it on. I loved Chanani's use of color, black & white text and images that become color with the pashmina adventures. It's a mix of realistic fiction with Priyanka's daily life and concerns with a bit of fantasy added in with the magical pashmina.
