In her latest biography for children, Melissa Sweet tells the story of E.B. White, author of Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little. Prior to reading this book, I didn't really know anything about White. White's story is fascinating in of itself, but Sweet makes him come alive with her signature mixed media and collage illustrations with lots of photographs mixed in. This book is an intimate and enchanting look at the life of E. B. White. Melissa Sweet includes photographs, hand written drafts, and letters to fully flesh out the man who brought us Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web. Her mixed media illustrations that include quotations from E. B. White's letters and articles are lovely. Her research is impeccable, and detailed in her extensive notes. An afterword, timeline, and index are included. All in all, an exemplary book.
