This book isn't as easy to categorize as other Charlaine Harris books. It's a little bit western, a little bit alternate history, a little bit fantasy....
Lizbeth "Gunnie" Rose is a gunnie (basically, a bodyguard/escort to get people through the badlands) who has suddenly found herself without a crew. Her country is not the US that we know. I had a lot of fun with this one. I immediately bought book two on seeing it released today so I could go straight to it after this & i am very glad I did as several weather related symptoms & headaches laid me out nearly all day today - this made that suck a lot less!

Boring tale, tedious characters. I had to skim to the end & wonder why I bothered. It certainly wasn't thrilling. I won't be bothering with this series. I've read a couple of Teagarden's which were OK, but definitely no more of these. ...more
