I liked Gideon's character and the uniqueness of the story. I had no idea how things were going to turn out. But I did not care for the really vague world setting, and the unclear language in dialogues and descriptions. I didn't really understand people's motives or why they were in that house. Or how on earth was I supposed to keep track of all those characters? Maybe I should have read closer. I don't know. Okay, so in the end, I'm giving this a three. That's mainly because I struggled through the first half, which seemed quite slow to get going, before racing through the second as it clicked together. Definitely has the And Then There Were None vibe. ...more

Not sure why all the raves about this book. I found it so boring. Took forever to even find a plot. The pacing was brutally slow and I couldn't find any way to care about anything that was happening. ...more
