Well, I liked this book... until I didn't. For a while, I was quite happy to read through this origin story. The heroine comes from privilege and suddenly is abandoned by her rich foster mother and politician fiancee, and has to make it on her own. The transition was interesting. The "real parents are serial killer" angle was also intriguing. We get random bits of visions or insight, which may or may not be supernatural.

Liked this a lot. The setting was interesting, and the characters were pretty good. I'm not sure where the story is going, but I am happy to find out.

As a general rule I will try anything Kelley Armstrong writes so I was rather excited when she started a new adult series. I did not know quite what direction the book would take but I was surprised that it was more of a straight contemporary mystery rather than the Armstrong-specialty of paranormal/UF. But I definitely enjoyed the world set up in Omens, but there is no doubt about it: Omens creates more questions than it ever answers and is essentially a warm-up book. But a good book nonetheles

This book was everything I wanted from Gone Girl, and very satisfying, while still leaving me eager to read the next.
