My foray into science fiction began with H.G Wells’ novels. I’m surprised that I never read this one, especially since the power of invisibility would be tempting for a pubescent boy. The novel opens when a mysterious stranger seeks refuge and anonymity at a south English inn. The mystery is heightened since he is clad in a hat, sunglasses and an overcoat.
