Reading this was quite the experience and actually a torture in itself, which is a pun. Yes, I admit.

American Psycho tells the story of Patrick Bateman, financial something during the day and psychopath during the night. BEWARE: NOT for the faint at heart. Very Disturbing. That's the beauty of ficticious books, they sometimes take our minds to places that we don't want to visit.

Brett Easton Ellis writes about vapid, non-emotional, rich, twenty something NYC dwellers. The main character Patrick Bateman is living the American Dream. High paying job, designer clothing, georgous girls, all while living a secret life as a psychotic serial killer.

I really hated this book. And it wasn't the subject matter that was bothering me, it wasn't the bloody gruesome scenes or the ease of killing. It was the writing itself. If I wanted to read a fashion magazine, I'd pick one up. I couldn't stand it. Same goes for music reviews. Did Mr. Ellis write essays on Genesis and Whitney Houston and couldn't get them published anywhere else so he decided to stick them in a novel? ...more
