Ok, ok, it was more than just a day till I got around to writing my review, mea culpa.
After a year of reading all the Miss Marple books, this is now the 21st month of the Poirot Buddy read Challenge (organised and led by Jessica, thank you) and is still proving amazingly enjoyable and not at all repetitive, which just goes to show what a good writer Ms Christie was and how different (in general) are all of her books.

I watched the ITV adaptation and thought what a stupid ending. So I decided to read the book which was much more satisfactory. In the book Poiret comes in after the murder and questions the family. It is more a psychological drama and I also heard in the play Christie gave another alternative ending.

Another very strong Agatha Christie! I think the victim is one of the creepiest characters Christie ever created. I remembered her--but not the solution, meaning that I was genuinely caught by surprise at the end of the story.
