Peril at End House is classic Poirot. Lovely Nick doesn’t know her life is in danger until Poirot helpfully points out that her near-accidents were probably not coincidence. But why would any of her friends want her dead? She’s not rich, she’s not mean. Poirot is determined to keep her safe, but that’s easier said than done, especially when another woman is killed, mistaken for Nick.

2025 Series Re-read: Enjoyable story with memorable characters and all the clues laid out fairly. Poirot's pomposity contrasts nicely with Hastings's playful narration. I love their camaraderie and reminiscences over previous cases. Re-reading these in order is proving fruitful. ...more

It is such a pleasure to read an Agatha Christie mystery. Peril at End House stars Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings. (I really love it when Hastings is "helping" Poirot solve a case.) This mystery is a hard one for Poirot to solve, though he doesn't realize that until the very, very end! This is a novel that could very easily be spoiled so I won't say much about it except that it was a pure delight to read this one! ...more
