These were fun little short mysteries. Some were a little cheesy, but on the whole enjoyable. I do love Poirot, and find his character so entertaining.

Listened to the audiobook which was well-performed (of course) by David Suchet. But these are early stories, with my least favorite sidekick Hastings, and with extra nasty racial and gender stereotypes. Bleh.

A superb collection of 18 stories featuring the eponymous detective Hercule Poirot and his sidekick, Capt. hastings. Though I confess some of the plots were devilishly clever while others were not so great. ITV has dramatised all the stories here and is a fun point to imagine these stories with David Suchet/Hugh Fraser in your head.

All in all, a fun collection of mysteries and with the coming holidays a must-read while sipping hot cocoa!

My Rating - 4/5

Really nice collection of short stories. Christie was a short story master, and you see her skill in this collection. I've read some stories by her that fell pretty flat, but I think almost everything in here was top-notch. From the first story, where Poirot is unusually self-effacing, to the second where he again proclaims his greatness, from missing bonds, jewels, and Italian noblemen to a sort of treasure hunt for a will, these stories roam widely. The final one, going back into Poirot's past ...more
