Inspector Alleyn #2. Includes his friend Nigel Bathgate from #1. Looking forward to #3.
A backstage mystery. Nigel takes Alleyn to the theater and they go back stage to meet a friend of his. See an argument. The show begins and the next thing you know someone really gets murdered. Good thing there's a detective on hand. Alleyn's main problem is reining in the local reporter, Bathgate.
Enjoyable story. I'm glad I gave Marsh another chance. ...more

I'm currently attempting to neutralize stress by compulsively reading British golden age mysteries. This was a fun one! I like Inspector Alleyn -- I'll definitely stick with this series.
