What Members Thought

4/2024: Just started my reread last night, reading along with Stephanie Cole’s beautiful, pitch-perfect narration, and upped to 5 stars based on first chapter! I just watched my copy of the Joan Hickson tv version from decades ago, I think the 80s, but she will always be Marple to me!
Anyway, it’s one of my favorite episodes in the collection, but I barely remember the book. Sinking in to that fascinating first chapter, from a guest’s POV as he chats with old friends on his way to the front desk ...more

This one has a great setting and premise and a very dramatic ending. This is one of the Miss Marples that Miss Marple isn’t actually in very much. I really liked the detective in this one, I don’t think he ever showed up in any of the other books, but I have a much less encyclopedic knowledge of the MM books than the Poirot ones.
