Been a while since I have read this. There were a number of parts I didn't remember. And the movies are so different from the story.
It is stressed here how frail Miss Marple has become and that she needs someone to live with her. And someone else to come in and clean. Miss Knight (the live-in) is being provided by nephew Raymond and she is a real pest. Miss Marple creates errands for her to run, even knowing that things aren't ready yet. An old favorite of mine, one of the first Christie's I read as I girl. I remember it because I immediately recognized the main clue, and knew what happened. I would have read it about 1969, so it's not surprising I quickly got that clue; I wonder if more modern readers would pick up on it as well.
The best part of this book for me is Miss Marple. Life is changing and as usual she is making the best of it, but it's delightful to see her navigate these changes, sharp as ever. Always a fun book to ...more

Definitely one of the best Christie mysteries I have read. There's a bit of unfortunate language related to persons with developmental/cognitive disabilities and of certain ethnicities. But, what can you do, it was a different time.
