The language used is quite formal, like that of old England, which I feel is a good aspect of the book as it sets it apart from the Mortal Intruments. I LOVED Clockwork Angel! In the beginning I thought this might be a little like City of Bones because it had a similar formula - family member taken, girl who has no idea about the shadow world but is actually Tessa Gray arrives in London to meet up with her brother after her last living relative passes away e but she arrives to find that Nate isn't there and she is taken by two mysterious and untrustworthy ladies who are trying to make her uncover something she never even knew she had in her...

I LOVED Clockwork Angel! In the beginning I thought this might be a little like City of Bones because it had a similar formula - family member taken, girl who has no idea about the shadow world but is actually more linked to it then she ever knew. But that is where the similarities end!

Though this book is a great book on its own, you can see Clare setting up a heap of unanswered or even unasked (at this point) questions in the book.

Yet again, we can see a love triangle sort of developing - Will or Jem. I have read quite a few reviews on this topic - ranging from obviously it will be Will, to it will probably be Will but we all like Jem better sort of things. After reading the book I think that we learn sooooooo little of Will and the I didn't feel the connection I usually do between the two main love interests. Personally I hope for Jem.

Onto Will - aside from the model of him on the cover of the book, I don't find him extremely sexy as I was expecting from reading other reviews (though I still think he is rather attractively described ont he outside) there are so many character flaws to him, he isn't just charmimgly witty/rude he is actually outright nasty and quiet unlovable. I think the connection between him and Jem is similar to many male friendships you see, they don't want to talk about the "mushy" stuff and accept how crappy and secretive they act and pass off not dealing with it as "they obviously don't want to talk about it". Though in saying that I understand in the book the need for a level of privacy but if Will cares for Jem SO much why bother? I am hoping the next book will under more about him so I can understand his motivations and not dislike him so much, especially if he does end up with Tessa... but at some point I feel like I wish they wouldn't end up together because it would be nice for just once to read a book where the obvious couple didn't end up together and the better option and the female lead did! ps. did i mention team Jem??! ...more

Cassandra Clare is one author that I totally admire and I must say I was really blown away by this book! The story revolves around Tessa Gray and her adventure along with the devious Downworlde Woooh this is just it! Will is the man! totally love this guy ;)
It was short but so fun!

Cassandra Clare is one author that I totally admire and I must say I was really blown away by this book! The story revolves around Tessa Gray and her adventure along with the devious Downworlder and the noble Shadowhunters. I love how the whole story was plotted, it was really convincing in my part, but I cannot deny that my assumptions was totally right while reading it. I cannot say nothing about the story and how it was written; Cassandra proves to me again that she is an author with the talent of story building and storytelling. I love the fact that this book was on the Victorian Era, I must say that this is one Era that I would love to live in.

Tessa Gray is the damsel in distress in this book, cliché but yes she is the damsel in distress. Tessa went to London hoping to find her brother Nate but ends up being abducted by the Dark Sisters. Unfortunate events follow as Tessa wonders why she was held by the Dark Sisters. But that didn’t kept Tessa from hoping to find and seek her brother Nate. I like characters who shows vulnerability and is strong I think I can relate to her in some point. William Herondale, ahhh I cannot explain how cranky this boy is. None the less I totally love his character, if you have read The Mortal Instruments Series I think you’ll know where Jace got his snarky attitude lol I guess it runs in the family. Having said William his parabatai James Carstairs is his opposite which I believe that’s why they work well as a team. Jem’s character is a boy who you would totally care for, I have a special heart for this boy for some reason that I just want to cuddle him up.

The cover of Clockwork Angel is William Herondale which I must say is a swoon worthy cover and deserves a cover love! I really like how the cover has the Clockwork Angel of Tessa. I also like the background which is a very mystical London and the mechanical cogs.

Fans of The Mortal Instruments Series I dare you not to miss this prequel! I think overall it shows how Clare’s writing for this book is quite different from her previous books. I think it just show how talented and flexible an author she really is. I totally recommend this book for every Mortal Instruments, Twilight, and Harry Potter fans out there. The whole read was really enjoyable, I can’t wait for Clockwork Prince and find out what happens next! ...more

this story couldn't have been any better than what i thought it was going to be. Tessa is a very courageous, strong girl. she wasn't afraid to do something that was right. though, my favorite character in the story was Jem. he was a very sweet and caring boy. i enjoyed his view on certain things. Will, on the other hand, is complete opposite of Jem. very mysterious, and says things without thinking. he is hiding something i can tell, but what it is? i have no clue. he does care for Tessa, i thin ...more

Loved it so much! I'd missed this world, created by Cassandra Clare. I had to get into the story at the beginning, not really remembering everything about that world anymore, but the rest of the story was just freaking amazing and it was hard to stop reading.
