Not really like the movie. Mary poppins is really mean! I'd hate to have her as my nanny. I listened to the audio and the woman who reads it is very animated. The only thing I didn't like is she talks so fast! It was hard to understand her sometimes with her accent. Fast listen... About 3 hrs long.

I loved this book. I of course grew up with the movie version of Mary Poppins being one of my favorite Disney movies. I had already read some reviews of this book and knew it would be different from the beloved movie. However, the reason I love this book is not because of Mary Poppins,but because of the magical journeys that happen throughout the book. I definitely built this up in my head because of my love for the movie. There was no plot at all, each chapter was just a nonsense story. They were fun stories, but definitely nonsense. Also not the biggest fan of Mary Poppins... she had some nice moments. I thought the book would give more insight into her and I would like her... but guess not.

Basically skimmed and had it on fast read once I learned they were little short stories that did me next-to-no-good. Not for me. But of course, due to my draconian self-applied reading rules I have to read the whole series.

I couldn't finish it. It really is a children's book...and not one you can read for the first time if you're already an adult. And Mary Poppins comes across as a snobby bitch to me.
